Happy Late Thanksgiving!

Happy late Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all had a blessed holiday. On the topic of giving thanks, I just want to say that I am very thankful for the world's best husband, who just treated me to my very first monogram/embroidery machine. I've not only been wanting one for ages - I've seriously been craving one for ages. Dreams are coming true and new possibilities are arising in my little world... all I can say is "YAY"!

P.S. Kelly, if you'll just slip me your baby names, I can hook you up :)

"Hen House Linen" T.s Part Two!

They're back - on cream colored T.s!!!

The decorations on these long sleeve T.'s are made from vintage materials; the fabric is feedsack from the 1930’s. Feedsack is material used by manufacturers to package pantry staples and animal feed. Frugal housewives would use the empty sacks to make clothing and quilts for their families.

My mother was raised on a farm during the Great Depression, all of her clothes, including her panties, were made from “Hen House Linen”. ~Nancy

Etsy and Elephants

I was playing on Etsy.com this morning, as I often do, when I came accross some precious baby prints by an artist named Sarah Jane. Many of her illustrations feature elephants (probably my favorite animal!). I intend to buy some of her prints next time I do a nursery - they are just so whimsical and wonderful! I also love her use of old song lyrics. Check out her store at sarahjanestudios.etsy.com.
In other Etsy news, I plan to open my own store in a few days, as soon as I finish a little collection that I've been working on. I'll post the link as soon as I open!

Sniglet and The March of Dimes

Baby Evie - 34 Weeks Gestation - January 15, 2006

"Every year, half a million babies in the U.S. are born prematurely. Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death and many life long disabilities. The funds we raise in Walk America support research that saves babies' lives. Our mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Please visit my blog on Share Your Story www.shareyourstory.org/webx/.ef45b97 "

My husband and I are excited to be participating in the St. Johns County March of Dimes walk this coming Saturday, November 10th (in honor of our Sniglet). Together we have already raised almost $500.00. To support us by giving money to our team, please visit my Walk America web site at http://www.walkamerica.org/personal_page.asp?w=933364.

Savannah: Shopping, Collecting, and Some Inspiration

We took a day trip to Savannah yesterday, it was blissful as usual. Savannah is without a doubt my favorite city for shopping. Here, I've posted some pictures of my prized purchases. I found the best ribbon and trim, all of which will be used in some of my upcoming projects (stay tuned for more creations!) I was also elated that I was able to start a Jennifer Murphy collection for Evie (OK, it's for me too). Jennifer Murphy is an artist who creates seasonal, whimsical, vintage inspired, little characters. You can see some of her original work at http://www.jmurphybears.com/home.html, or check out Midwest of Canon Falls who produces some of Jennifer's creations seasonally on a larger scale (go to http://www.bayberrycove.com/). To experience a little more of my day in Savannah, visit @ Home at vintagegeneral.com

(Jennifer Murphy was also featured on the Martha Stewart Show recently. Check it out by going to http://www.marthastewart.com/ and search for "Pumpkin People")

Sweet Baby Jacket

Snugly and yummy! Mom made this sweet little jacket for Ev using all vintage materials (the chenille, the buttons, the binding - all vintage!) If you think it looks cute on the hanger, you should see it on a baby - precious! It even has a pom-pom on the hood! We're making more just like this one for the craft fair in December (available up to size 24 mo). There are a limited number available, so send us an e-mail today if you are interested in reserving one. ~Megan
